How does the dog track reach RescueDogs?
Connect a suitable dog tracker or import a previously recorded track as a file. For an internet connection, sign in with the tracker provider. For Bluetooth, connect the handheld to your smartphone.
The right connection depends on the exact model, device software and your smartphone. Before buying new equipment, ask us about the combination you plan to use.
Connect a tracker

The Garmin connections are available as Beta features. Try the connection with your equipment during an exercise before operational use.
Before your first recording
- Open the tracker area and select your provider. For Bluetooth, open the gear control and select your handheld under Garmin Alpha or DogTrace.
- Sign in with the provider or connect the handheld. Check that the relevant dog appears with a current location.
- Select the dog tracker before recording. Dog and smartphone tracks are shown separately.
- Record a short exercise and review the track afterwards.
If locations are old or reception is missing, check the connection and the displayed timestamp. More about live tracking and dog tracks.
Use track and map files
GPX: import an existing track or export a recording for further use. A file contains the recorded route and does not send ongoing location updates.
Offline maps: with Premium, import MBTiles or PMTiles v3 map packages containing PNG/JPEG tiles. Before leaving, check the area and zoom levels you need on your device. Vector map packages are not supported.
